Designing Your Dream Home

Sometimes, the only way to get exactly what you want in a home is to design it yourself and have it built from scratch. You’ll be able to determine precisely how much you want to spend on your new home when you design and build your own property. From cost-effective budget homes to luxury palaces, there’s no limit to how much personalisation you can add to your self-designed home.
Here’s how to get started:

1. Determining What You Want

(i) Deciding on Your Budget
It’s ideal to start by having a fixed budget amount in mind, so you can calculate exactly what you can incorporate into your dream home design. If you’re self-funding your home-building project, you’ll probably already have a clear idea of the amount you’ll be spending. If you are obtaining a loan, it’s a good time to look into affordable or cheap home loans and get an idea of how much you can borrow.
(ii) Brainstorming
The next step is to start brainstorming the features and elements that you want in your dream home. Involve every family member and ask them to think about what they would like to see in their ideal home. Take time to sit down and note down the elements to be included in your dream home, such as:
  • Outdoor features –Outdoor living spaces are very popular additions to houses of all sizes. Pergolas, outdoor kitchens, patios and decks are just some of the outdoor spaces to consider.
  • Entertainment and sport –If you or your children love the outdoors and sports, you may be thinking of including a tennis court, swimming pool or basketball court.
  • Special-purpose rooms – Possible additions for your new home can include a personalized home theater, a large, soundproof study, an entertainment room or a gym.
  • Green features –Generating your own energy with solar panels, energy-efficient hot water systems and water-saving rainwater tanks are some of the money-saving, green features that make great additions to new homes.

2. Working with an Architect

Once you have a list of elements you’d like to be incorporated into your new home and a clear picture of what you’re looking for, it’s time to speak to an architect. Your architect can draft some working drawings, provide recommendations on materials and let you know if you need to consult with other professionals at this stage. They might be able to give you advice on site orientation, energy or green features and aesthetic and design elements you could use to enhance the design of your house.

3. After Finalizing Your Design

Once you’ve finalized your design with your architect, there are a few more steps to take on the way to attaining your dream home. These include getting building approval from your local council, a process during which you may continue to consult with your architect for any necessary adjustments.
If you don’t have a site finalized, you will need to find the right site, whether it’s a parcel of land or an older house that is to be demolished. You’ll also need to speak with a contractor or building company who can build your home.
4. Now it is time for  3D Rendering Services
After finalizing the design, you are going to have a 2d design of the Interior and a Floor plan of your home. Generally those are in 2d sketch. But as a general person, it is too hard to understand and visualize your future home. So, you must have a good understanding of your home and how it'll look.
